Korean BBQ Beef Bowl

Ingredients
- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Marinade
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all marinade ingredients and mix well
- Add beef slices to the marinade and let sit for 15-20 minutes
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over high heat
- Cook marinated beef for 2-3 minutes per side until browned
- Remove beef from pan and let rest for 5 minutes
- Slice beef against the grain into thin strips
- Assemble bowls with rice, beef, and vegetables
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions
Notes
- For best results, freeze the beef for 30 minutes before slicing to make it easier to cut thin
- You can substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for a vegetarian version
- The marinade can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week
- Serve with kimchi and gochujang for extra flavor
